Printing Instructions

Let’s print out the free men's sewing pattern!

The sewing pattern comes with 3 different printing options! The US Letter and A4 print is a tile version PDF that you can print out at home. The A0 version is used by a printshop to print on a single sheet of paper and saves time taping the separate pages together.

Additionally, you can use view mode to only select/print the size you are working on. Each pattern file is designed with layers of different sizes. There is an option to print only your size or all sizes based on your preference. Open the file in Adobe Acrobat and keep in legend layer.

If you print at home, then you need to trim each sheet by cutting off the top and excess margin. Tape each page together by row, and then attach the rows together. Use the diamond marks to align everything!

Always make sure to print on 100% scale.
(Do not ‘fit to page’ or reduce the size!)

There is a test square on the first page of the pattern.
Use as a scale to check if the dimensions are 5x5cm and/or 2x2”.

Step 4- Place Collar Band (D) pieces right side together and slide Collar (E) in-between. Stretch or overlock stitch around the curved line ” or 1cm width. Turn the Collar Band (D) right side out.

Step 5- Cut out the center front of Front Top (A) 1” by 5¾” (2.5cm by 14.6cm). Stay tape the length of button placket on the wrong side of Front Top (A) around the cut opening.

Step 6- On the wrong side of Placket (C) pieces, apply a fusible interfacing with light steam iron.

Step 7- Place Placket (C) pieces right sides together next to the center front cut out. Sew ” or 1cm vertically ” or 1cm past bottom of placket.

Step 8- Press the Placket (C) and seam allowance toward the center front.

Step 9- Place the Front Top (A) and Back Top (B) right side together. Close the shoulder and side seams with ” or 1cm stretch or overlock stitch.

Step 10- Baste stitch the Collar (E) and Collar Band (D) to the Front and Back Top (A&B) neckline with ” or 1cm seam allowance.

Step 13- Finish the baste stitch edge around the neckline of Front and Back Top (A&B) with ” or 1cm stretch or overlock stitch.

Step 14- Clip the placket corner to the end of the Placket (C) stitching. Iron the Placket (C) in place and topstitch ” or 0.3cm away from the edge.

Step 15- Stitch bottom of Placket (C) together with ¼” or 0.6cm straight stitch. Turn the Front and Back Top (A&B) right side out, then topstitch bottom of Placket (C) to ensure it stays down instead of flip upwards.

Step 16- Fold the Sleeve (F) right side together, then sew ” or 1cm stretch stitch or overlock stitch along the underarm seam. Flip the Sleeve (F) right side out.

Step 17- Slide the Sleeve (F) through the armhole so the right sides are touching the Front and Back Top (A&B). Pin around the armhole opening, then sew ” or 1cm stretch or overlock stitch around the pinned area of each armhole.

Step 18- Finish with knit hem by using a double-needle or twin-needle from the right side of the fabric. The bobbin thread will zigzag between the parallel stitches to result in a stretchier hem.

Note: If the knit fabric has elastic or synthetic fibers, use a pressing cloth and low heat setting instead of ironing directly on the fabric to prevent melting.
